The best thing you can do is go to nvidia control panel 3d settings and as preferred graphics processor to choose intel or nvidia.
Nvidia optimus how to disable. Here are screen shots to help show my problem. Just right click the app game and run with graphics processor high performance nvidia processor which should be default anyways. You can do the same under nvidia control panel for each application profile to keep those settings. According to the information you provided if there is no option for disabling the nvidia card from the bios chances are the omen you have is a mux less system and the nvidia card has no direct access to the display.
The 300hz display is too high of a refresh rate for the igpu to support and so must be directly connected to the dgpu. However this isn t very common. With this mehod it will make the gpu you have chosen to work most of the time. Disable the nvidia optimus card from bios.
In the nvidia control panel i have added all of my games to the custom setting list and chose high performance nvidia gpu from the drop down list but the card still wont turn on. For example internet explorer will use the integrated graphics card as it does not require heavy video processing however if you open and run a game the discrete card will take over all the work. While the nvidia graphics driver does a pretty good job of auto detecting when the nvidia graphics are necessary it isn t perfect.
