Nvidia Linux Black Screen Boot
The system stuck on black screen on boot.
Nvidia linux black screen boot. To run into the problem i made a kali linux bootable usb and booted into live mode with the usb. When i boot my laptop with an external monitor attached using hdmi it works perfectly starts the sddm login screen and then boots into kde. I have a strange problem. Installed nvidia and nvidia utils as dep ran nvidia xconfig rebooted got black screen with cursor.
After installation and rebooting the system then without the modification nomodeset after the login the desktop has appeared as it shall. Followed most of archwiki advices like adding something to kernel params or blacklisting intel graphics drivers and adding nvidia to initramfs nothing works. That s because i ve knowed that the nvidia grafic is the reason for the black screen after login i ve installed the propriete driver from nvidia after the successful login. However i can switch to alternate console and login in the terminal.
I bought a new card and the nvidia drivers installed and worked without any issue. Though i was able to select and boot into graphical installer. After several reboots and login attempts the screen continues to remain black immediately following the login attempt. It was an actual problem with the card.
This is an old thread but i finally fixed my issue. Ttys other than 7th work fine. The nvidia drivers install fine i reboot and the login prompt runs smoothly meaning the stutters are gone.
