Nvidia Freesync Via Hdmi
Activate freesync on your display using on screen controls.
Nvidia freesync via hdmi. So tvs with hdmi vrr support this is not the same thing as hdmi freesync. Technical implementation is slightly different iirc but more importatly branding and support are different should gain vrr on turing cards hdmi ports after that driver releases note that 2019 lg oleds dont support hdmi freesync so amd will need to enable hdmi vrr support on their gpus as well which again is. Nvidia will use the hdmi vrr spec which only exists as off hdmi 2 1 anything prior to 2 1 is none spec hence likely wont be supported only work on amd cards nvidia only supports vrr freesync on dp atm. And even if freesync itself supports hdmi that doesn t necessarily mean that nvidia gpus support freesync over hdmi.
Nvidia don t support freesync via hdmi on any graphic card they ever made. For me this is the last straw. Starting with 16 and 20 series nvidia started to support hdmi forum vrr over hdmi. The second possible issue is that the inspiron 7657 might have its display outputs all wired to the intel gpu.
Even if you don t own a supported monitor you ll probably be able to toggle g sync. All of nvidia s drivers since mid january 2019 have included g sync support for select freesync monitors. So whilst it remains to be seen either way its likely that older freesync vrr tvs wont be supported on nvidia cards. Saddly they won t be implementing it on the still very capable 10 series.
