Nvidia Freesync Disable
This is what worked best for me and a safe option restart driver with cru.
Nvidia freesync disable. For a few years nvidia s g sync has been the best thing going in gaming monitors. Windows 7 8 8 1 will not work. Some guys are setting 35 to 144hz but for me that gave horrible artifacting on low fps. Also make sure you disable v sync.
An adaptive sync technology that uses specialized hardware to match the framerate of the monitor with an nvidia graphics. Turn off g sync nvidia or freesync amd adjust ambient occlusion in nvidia control panel manage 3d settings adjust or disable all forms of vsync for your monitor. If you have freesync g sync monitor this issue should go away if you simply go to drivers and disable g sync. Set the v rate to 57 144hz.
Unfortunately g sync and possibly freesync does not work through nvidia optimus. Downclock gpu to default. Even if you don t own a supported monitor you ll probably be able to toggle g sync. Nvidia gpus now work with freesync monitors with g sync compatible enabled in the configuration tool.
Now nvidia is making it very clear that it thinks the more expensive g sync option with nvidia hardware driving both the gpu and the monitor is the superior choice. Nvidia at this time does not have any plans nor ability to add driver support for 9xx or older series gpus this due to their lack of displayport 1 2a. Own a freesync compatible monitor this does not have to be on the list of nvidia certified ones it just has to support freesync. Tweak till you like it.
In cru click the edit button with your freesync monitor selected. Be using windows 10. It requires the nvidia gpu to have direct control of the display output because the intel gpu doesn t support passing g sync through so this might be an issue with freesync as well. Nvidia made a change in policy that pleased many pc gamers by starting to work on certifying amd freesync monitors to work with nvidia gpus.
If you do not have a compatible monitor but the setting is enabled in your drivers and not shown you d need to either reinstall drivers with custom perform a clean install that resets all settings or by changing the setting via nvidia inspector.
