Nvidia Driver Ultra Low Latency Mode
This is just in time frame scheduling as nvidia calls it.
Nvidia driver ultra low latency mode. A new set of apis for game developers to reduce and measure rendering latency. With ultra low latency mode frames are submitted into the render queue just before the gpu needs them. Nvidia is releasing a big driver update for its graphics cards to coincide with gamescom this week. Nvidia says it will further reduce latency by up to 33 over just using the maximum pre rendered frames option.
The nvidia low latency mode feature would be available for all nvidia geforce gpus in the nvidia control panel. Now in game overwatch has a setting called reduce buffering that corresponded to the previous max pre rendered frames. The nvidia low latency mode is a new feature provided by the nvidia s graphics driver which is intended for competitive gamers and anyone else who wants the fastest input response in their games. Currently nvidia video card drivers offer ultra low latency mode for gamers and those who want the fastest input response time in games.
This feature is available in all nvidia geforce gpus in the nvidia control panel. Cpu usage it s around 25 so it may be that this is an outlier and that a more cpu bound title may have some issues with this feature but for destiny 2 it really works. Nvidia reflex features two major new technologies. Using ultra low latency in destiny 2 120 fps with a 1080 ti 8700k 5 0 ghz i can definitely feel a difference without any issues stuttering etc.
The ultra low latency mode is just an extension of the max pre rendered frames setting that used to be in the nvidia control panel. This works with all gpus. By integrating directly with the game reflex low latency mode aligns game engine work to complete just in time for rendering eliminating the gpu render queue and reducing cpu back pressure in gpu intensive scenes.
