This issue has been happening for quite some time now and factored in my decision to upgrade from a 980 to a 1080. After applying every possible fix found on the internet to the sudden fps drop problem i finally found the solution just unninstal your driver with display driver unninstal and install the nvidia driver 344 75 for your vga.
